BROXDITCH

This is a new year and a whole new chapter as a textiles design student. I have recently started my Textiles Design BA at Chelsea.. We have had our first two weeks and out of it as a group of 85 we produced 85 individual books to keep for life which include a different piece of work from every student. I have to say I was sceptical of this project at first as many introductory projects never seem to go anywhere or hold meaning.. however I was so happy with the outcome and it really is a good piece of memorabilia. The task was to make a ‘rough guide’ of an allocated area given to us, mine was Brick Lane, Hoxton and Shoreditch area which I was chuffed about. The plan was
- Visit area and look around take photo’s, do drawings, collect any interesting debris etc..
-Take note of surroundings and atmosphere
-Talk to people that live in the area about life there and what they think about it
-Focus on individual objects and write about/draw them
